The Awakening Series: An Intro to Ritual Work

Ritual work is, simply put, prayer with action.  Creating a spell bottle or charm, those are rituals.  Celebrating a handfasting, yup... a ritual.  But SO is a wedding.  So is saying the Rosary.  So is stirring the pot clockwise while thinking loving thoughts as you cook for your family. 

Many refer to people who practice ritual as "witches".  But what exactly does that mean?  

Truth is it means something different for just about everyone.  It does NOT mean worshiping the devil or eating children. 

It generally means a person finds divinity in the natural word. When you're in-tune with the natural world you can learn how to harness it's energy to manifest your highest self.  We call the first glimmers of this "awakening". Right now there are tidal shifts in the universe that are awakening a lot of folks and they don't quite know what to do about it.

In this series Melissa Musante, the owner of Spirit Mercantile and 10th+ generation witch, will explain the basics in a safe, welcoming, and positive environment where no question is stupid and everyone with an open mind and love in their hearts are welcomed. 

Take one or all.  You might find it helpful to do them in order but depending on where your knowledge level is you could jump in mid-stream.  

Each class is scheduled for 2 hours, but that's based on full attendance and robust discussion.  If it's a smaller class or you're not too talkative it may be shorter.

The Elements: September 10th 7-9pm

The ancients knew there was something divine about  earth, air, fire, and water.  Consequently almost everything has an elemental correspondence and the element and quite literally the cornerstone of most nature based practices. 

In this session we'll examine each element and through a series of exercises connect with each one in turn.  Then once we understand our personal connection to each element we'll talk about ways to work with them.

The Tools: September 24th 7-9pm

Technically you don't NEED anything to do magic, but when you're starting out it's really helpful to have objects to help anchor your intentions. 

Since witches don't eat children what does one ACTUALLY do with a cauldron?  What's up with "riding a broom"?  Does light shoot out of the end of your wand like in the Wizarding World???? Wait, there's a knife?!?! but I thought you said you don't hurt things?!?!?

Let us clear up some misconceptions and explain what each tool is actually used for.  You can then decide if that tool is useful for you or not. 

Magical Color Theory: October 8th 7-9pm

Color is one of the most important tools in ritual work.  The color of a crystal or cloth or candle can completely change the "vibe" of a spell. 

In this session we'll take some time to immerse ourselves in color and understand each hue's energy and uses.   

Working with the Days of the Week & Basic Number Magic: November 5th 7-9pm

Each day is ruled by a different astral body and those astral bodies have an impact on the natural world.  

This session will look at working with days of the week when planning spell work.  (It would be helpful to have a basic knowledge magical color theory before this class).

Magical Alphabets with Make& Take Runes: November 12th 7-9pm

When witches were being persecuted they often sent coded messages for meeting each other using magical alphabets.  Today witches are still looked at askance but for the most part they're free to worship as they please in the USA (at least for now).  So why are these still relevant?

We'll show you why! And you'll make your very own set of wooden runes to take home.

Introduction to Candle Magic: November 19th 7-9pm

In this slightly more advanced class you'll learn the basics of candle magic.  This is probably the foundation of ritual magic.  It's easily approachable and safe for anyone as you're not calling on any entity to help you.  You're simple anchoring your intent with the use of well placed candles.

It would be helpful to have a working knowledge of magical color and number theory before taking this class.
