Melissa Musante
Melissa is a generational wise woman with much of her knowledge passed down from her grandparents and great-grandparents.
Ritual imbibes every moment of every day and everything she does.
She is in near constant communication with the spirit realm, especially when able to be in nature.
While Melissa has had excellent teachers and mentors along the way—and had the good fortune to study under RJ Stewart (Merlin Tarot, Power Within the Land)—the majority of her knowledge came via direct transmission from her ancestors while they were still living.
Her great-grandmother was a renowned healer, as was her mother before her.
She remembers visiting her great-grandmother when she was just 3 or 4 years old. She didn’t see her often. On this day, Sesame Street was playing on the old, grainy television. Great-grandma sat Melissa on her lap—and then Melissa had knowledge. Poof. Being only 3, she didn’t understand this knowledge, but she knew that there was something more. She had been awakened to a deeper path.
After that, she constantly asked questions—questions that eventually got her thrown out of Sunday school. She was told to “just believe” and to not question God. But it wasn’t about questioning—it was about wanting to communicate with.
Her grandfather, that great-grandmother’s son, helped guide her in this spiritual conversation during countless foraging excursions in the woods. He taught her:
“Be still, and the trees will guide you.”
Over the years, she read, studied, and read some more… always discovering in those pages the knowledge that had already been passed down to her. The learning was really about trusting that inner voice. The voices that speak to her are the voices of her ancestors, or of the natural world. She simply had to learn to listen—and trust.
In 2023, upon returning from a trip to Europe, she heard a voice from the woods next to her house. As she laid hands on a large oak that had lost nearly half of itself, the tree said:
“It is time.”
And so began the quest to finally realize a 30-year dream.
Spirit Mercantile was conceived.
